Sustainability in our DNA
We understand sustainability as a change in the way we operate to ensure the creation of long-term value. That is why our Strategic Sustainability Plan is framed within a series of environmental, social, and governance objectives that reflect our aspirations in each area by 2030.
Driving the energy transition, achieving local and global changes, and fulfilling our purpose of ensuring universal access to clean, efficient, and high-quality energy is a challenge that we can only tackle with the energy of our entire team.
Because Arteche is a shared project with the people who are part of the Group, our customers, suppliers, and society as a whole, where we carry out our activities. And it has been for over 75 years. Our commitment is to move forward together, #MovingTogether.
Our commitment to society is strong, and everyone at Arteche wants to actively participate in contributing to social development and generating value for our customers and society. Thus, our companies have been recognized for their socially responsible management. In fact, we have implemented the ISO 26000 standard in management systems to promote the economic and social benefit of the local communities in which we operate.
ESG: A Comprehensive Approach
We firmly believe that finding solutions to the urgent challenges of our society requires an open, generous, and collaborative attitude so that all involved stakeholders move forward together.
Decisions regarding ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) guide Arteche's strategy, aiming to create sustainable value for all our stakeholders. To the technical, human, and financial foundations of our tradition, we have natively incorporated these three pillars. They are now deeply embedded in our DNA, and we do not consider it possible to move forward without them.
Sustainability Strategic Plan
This plan is based on three fundamental pillars:
- The double materiality analysis, where we involve all stakeholders
- The 2030 Agenda, with clearly defined objectives
- The company’s values: closeness, commitment, trust, and perseverance.
This plan is founded on the principles of transparency, collaboration, and value creation and reflects our commitment to engaging stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, local communities, investors, and shareholders, in our journey toward sustainability.
Throughout this plan, we have identified priorities, objectives, and specific actions to achieve our goals. We recognize that the success of sustainability requires a shared effort and strong collaboration across all functions and the value chain.
Therefore, our Sustainability Strategic Plan is a guide that will help us continue leading by example and working in harmony with the environment and the communities in which we operate. As we progress, we commit to regularly reporting our progress, celebrating our achievements, and learning from our challenges to continue improving and growing as a sustainable company committed to the planet and society.
Commitment to the United Nations Global Compact
Through a letter sent to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, we expressed in 2014 (updated in 2018) our commitment and adherence to human and labor rights recognized in national and international legislation and to the principles on which the United Nations Global Compact is based. These include the UN Norms on the Responsibilities of Transnational Corporations and Other Business Enterprises with Regard to Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy, as well as any documents or texts that may replace or complement those previously mentioned.
As members of the United Nations Global Compact, we are committed to fulfilling the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, approved by the UN in 2015, whose Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are as follows:
